Volunteer Opportunities
Here are a few ways that you could help
Listed below are the current volunteer opportunities available. If
you would like to apply for any of these positions please complete
our Volunteer Application Form and return it to us.
You will be asked to provide the names of two referees that we can
contact. Once we have received both references you will be asked to
come for an interview to discuss which tasks you are interested
in.
Welcomer
We have recently moved into an empty commercial property on Burgate in Canterbury. As well as office space upstairs we have anew reception area on the ground floor open to members of the public and visitors. The reception will be open from 09.00 - 17.00 Monday to Saturday and we are looking for volunteers to work alongside our Receptionist to meet and greet visitors. Ideally we are looking for volunteers who could donate a day, morning or afternoon on a regular weekly basis.
Office Assistant
There are times throughout the year when the fundraising office gets extremely busy and we need an extra pair of hands to help with tasks like office administration, putting together mail outs or fundraising packs, typing and other computer work. This may not be regular work but having a team of volunteers ready to call on it when those busy times occur would be extremely beneficial.
Collection Box Co-Ordinator
Not only do collection boxes raise money for the charity but they can also raise awareness when placed in local shops and amenities. As a Collection Box Co-ordinator you would create your own round by placing collection boxes in your local town or village. You would also be responsible for emptying and maintaining those boxes in your area. This type of volunteering is perfect for people with busy lives as you manage and maintain the boxes at times that are suitable for you.
Event Assistant
Throughout the year the fundraising team undertake various fundraising events and becoming an Event Assistant would involve help at those events or in the planning leading up to them. You may be asked to get involved with a store collection or help man an information stand at an exhibition. It may be laying out chairs before a concert or welcoming guests at a ball. The role of Event Assistant will be incredibly varied, but if you decide that you only like helping at a particular type of event that's ok, your help would still be invaluable to us.
Appeal Representative
Throughout the year we are invited to a variety of groups, businesses and schools to speak about the fundraising campaign or to accept a cheque. To enable us to accept as many of these invitations as possible we need Appeal Representatives that can attend these special types of event on our behalf.
Any volunteer wanting to become a Appeal Representative would receive full and in-depth training to enable them to use our fundraising PowerPoint presentation, what to say at a cheque presentation and advice on speaking in public, if required.
Still not sure whether volunteering is for you?
