The Save Canterbury Cathedral Appeal is delighted to announce that the internationally renowned conductor Harry Christophers and his choir The Sixteen will be returning to Canterbury Cathedral on Friday 7 November following the sell-out success of last year's concert at the Cathedral. They will be performing their acclaimed Choral Pilgrimage 2008, "Treasures of Tudor England".

Tickets are on sale from 1 August at £28.50, £24.50, £20.00 and £10.00 and can be purchased by emailing fundraisingcampaign@canterbury-cathedral.org, calling 01227 464764 with credit or debit card details, by sending a cheque made payable to "Save Canterbury Cathedral" or by calling in to our shop at 27-28 Burgate, Canterbury CT1 2HA. Please note that if we need to post tickets to you there is a 50p handling charge made per booking.
The Choral Pilgrimage is devoted to music by three composers born in, or just before, the reign of Henry VIII: Robert Parsons, Christopher Tye and Robert White. They lived in a politically turbulent period of English history, surviving the reformation, the unstable reign of King Henry VI and Queen Mary and lived to see a secure and established church under Queen Elizabeth I.
These composers created some of the most sublime music ever written in an age of conflicting ideologies and extreme political reaction. The evening's programme will include Tye's wonderfully idiosyncratic mass Euge Bone and his deeply penitential Peccavimus cum partibus nostris, to Parson's much-loved Ave Maria with its soaring expansive phrases and the powerful five-voice Lamentations of White.
The performance at Canterbury will be one of the last opportunities to hear the "Treasures of Tudor England" as the pilgrimage enters the last stage of the year long tour of many of England's churches and Cathedrals.
A former chorister of Canterbury Cathedral, Harry Christophers has had close links with the Cathedral for many years and is delighted to be performing in support of the Appeal. "To be returning to Canterbury Cathedral again this year in support of the Cathedral Appeal is wonderful. At a young age as a chorister at the Cathedral I was able to develop my passion for music. I am especially pleased to play a part in raising funds to ensure the future of the great choral tradition already established here. I hope that the people of Kent will enjoy a very special evening in support of one of their most important treasures."
